Welcome to my blog. This is part of an internal investigation which is discussing topics inside the classroom whereas an external investigation is going around the city learning and experiencing outside of the classroom. This is a brief explanation of why I love Woodlawn which is a neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. It is also the place I have lived all my life or Where I’m From. For 15 years of my life, I have seen tragedy, miracles, and everything in between. It is also where my family was constantly judged for being one of the only white families in the neighborhood. But I have had many great friends living there. Many people would likely classify Woodlawn as dangerous or intimidating and in some cases, they would be right. Those cases would be gang violence, gun violence, drugs, etc. personally I have been with friends or at home and heard gunshots or seen gang wars on the news.
