Where I'm From

Welcome to my blog. This is part of an internal investigation which is discussing topics inside

the classroom whereas an external investigation is going around the city learning and

experiencing outside of the classroom.

This is a brief explanation of why I love Woodlawn which is a neighborhood on the south

side of Chicago. It is also the place I have lived all my life or Where I’m From. For 15 years

of my life, I have seen tragedy, miracles, and everything in between. It is also where my

family was constantly judged for being one of the only white families in the neighborhood.

But I have had many great friends living there.

Many people would likely classify Woodlawn as dangerous or intimidating and in some

cases, they would be right. Those cases would be gang violence, gun violence, drugs, etc.

personally I have been with friends or at home and heard gunshots or seen gang wars on the

news. Kids have also been roped into gangs at a young age and my family has lost many close

friends from the violence.

Even though the neighborhood has been through lots of tragedy it has been through many

miracles and joyous moments. For example, you can see lifelong friends meet again on the

sidewalk and smell the delicious food from the restaurants and see people helping one another

through the kindness of their hearts. You can see kids graduate through high school and get into

college even though they have been through poverty and violence. You can hear the joy in

people's voices when they see a new or old family member and walk around the neighborhood

feeling like this is your home or in other words The Place Your From.

Cardboard Camera?

This is an Action Project for my core class Light, Sound, and Time. During this Unit, we learned all about light and how it works. We also learned about how light is a part of the visible spectrum. This is a spectrum that shows the types of waves/rays that are on earth. The visible spectrum is also how we see colors. This has also helped us better understand what light is and how we use it to take pictures. For example, when you take a picture using a camera, light is used to leave a image captured onto a surface. For this project, I was tasked with making a camera from a tissue box. The camera I made is called a Camera Obscura. This camera takes light and through a little hole pastes the image onto a piece of parchment paper inside of the camera. As you can see below, those photos were taken from inside the camera when held up to a light. It also shows what the camera looks like and how it turned how after creating it. My Final Project...Is about my future.

This is the very last Action Project I will ever make. I have spent my last three years making a lot of action projects, and I am at the end of them. This last AP is for my core class Endurance. This class was all about learning how one might endure something and the physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental, strength it takes to endure something. So in order to finish my last class, I need to create a survival guide on how to become an electrician, my future career. This survival guide will show how I will reach my goals and also give a timeline for how quickly I want to reach them. This is important because I am able to look back on this and show how much I have changed, and it will also help me if I get into a bad spot in my life. Overall, this AP will also show you how I plan to reach my goal and become successful in the future. Overall this class was one to remember. I was able to create a project I am proud of. I also know that this is the last action project of my time as ...

What is the Big Bang?

What was the Big Bang and how can we prove it? These are questions that scientists have been trying to answer for decades. Where did our universe come from? When did it start? Is it still going? Is there any way for us to be able to track the big bang? The big bang was billions of years ago, but how can science prove that it actually happened? If scientists can prove this then how could this affect religious beliefs? These questions have been asked, yet still remain unanswered. When asking questions, getting the answer can bring a whole lot more questions. When it comes to the creation of the universe, there are just as many questions as there are theories as to how the universe was created. Just a few of them have been stated above, and only a couple have been answered below.  But how did it begin? The universe as we know it started in one extremely hot and dense point that inflated and stretched, first at unmeasurable speeds, then slowly over time, it became measurable. 13....
