The Bear, the Rabbit, and the Fox.

This is a fable for my core class STORIES. For the past few weeks, we have been reading and learning about fables. We also went to a play called The Brothers Size, at the Steppen Wolf theater. In that play, there were only three characters. Two of them were brothers and the third one was a best friend. Throughout the play they used a third-person like language, where they would tell us what they were doing, like "Oshoosi went under the car." Below is a fable about a bear, a fox, and a rabbit. They all have jobs that they need to complete but some of them won't get their share done. We all chose a moral for our fable, and if you don't know what a moral is, it is a lesson in a story that you are trying to teach. So, my moral of the story is to "get your work done." We also implemented a symbol in the story which represents something in the story.

The Bear, the Rabbit, and the Fox.

One day in Bozeman, Montana, John the Bear, Jim the Rabbit, and Bill the Fox all were working at a construction site. John the bear was a hard worker and a very responsible person, but his friends Jim the Rabbit and Bill the Fox were goofing around not doing what they were supposed to be doing. John was swinging and hitting the ground over and over again with his sledgehammer all day long. Bill and Jim would laugh and never get their share of the work done, even when their boss Oscar the Porcupine would tell them to get back to work. John the Bear always kept to himself with his sledgehammer all day long and all day long, Bill and Jim would try to make John stop working and play with them, but John never did. One day Bill and Jim were goofing off and Oscar confronted them about it. He told them that if they kept ignoring work then they will get in a lot of trouble. They said that they understood but really they were upset at John. They thought that he told Oscar about how they were having fun. So, Jim and Bill decided to prank John the next day. It took them a while to think of the perfect prank but eventually, they thought of it.

Jim and Bill made sure that they got to the worksite before John, so they could pull the prank on him. Their big prank was that they were going to hide his sledgehammer from him. They waited all morning for John to show up and when John arrived at the worksite they almost gave their hiding spot away because they were about to laugh their faces off. When John saw that his sledgehammer had disappeared from the place that he left it, so he looked. Desperate to get back to work, John decided to go out and buy a new hammer to get back to work. When he got back, Jim and Bill saw the opportunity to confront him. Jim stopped him and yelled, “Why did you snitch on me and bill to Oscar!” John was very confused at this point. He told them that he had no idea what they were talking about. But Jim didn’t believe him so they argued back and forth with Jim getting angrier after every word, so much so that Oscar heard this arguing and ran over to see what was going on. Oscar told them that he knew that Jim and Bill were goofing off since the first day they started. Jim and Bill knew that they had made a mistake by hiding the sledgehammer from John, do they gave him his sledgehammer back. They apologized to him and asked him to forgive them. He forgave them and told them that they need to learn to get their work done, be more responsible and take ownership of your own actions. Oscar was upset and toled Jim and Bill that they would be finishing the rest of John’s job for him. They then went out and bought two new sledgehammers for themselves to finish the job that John was doing. Jim and Bill decided to take John’s advice and they learned to work harder and be more responsible

A Letter To the Government

This is an Action Project for my core class Policy. During this term, we have been looking at policy and how and what it is. We looked at it in the constitution and also in the government today. We took a look at different policies in Chicago and how they would change the world in a good or bad way. We were also visited by a few FE guests who should us a deeper meaning behind policy and how it can help us in the end for this project. We were visited by Arne Duncan, Akio Katano, the CCHR, and Nick Anderson. Keeping in mind the things they taught us about, we were tasked with finding a policy in Chicago (preferably a new one), and then creating a letter addressed to someone who represents me and my city asking them to advocate for this policy. The policy I chose was about the Anjanette Young Ordinance. This led me to research more into this policy and why what the police did was so wrong. Not just because they broke into an innocent civilian's home, but because they did so against t...

Is the Vietnam War a Just Cause for Freedom?

This is an action project for my core class Policy. This is the last action project for this class for the year. During this unit, we learned about different wars and how they have affected the world. We also took a look at if they are justified or not. We chose between wars fought in the past and decided to research that specific war. We also took a deeper dive into what makes a policy and who makes them. We looked at policies made by congress and some that are made by the president without the advise of congress. For this project I was tasked with researching a war in history and how it affected the US and if it is a justified war or not. The Vietnam War     The Vietnam War is justified by fighting against the spread of communism.  The Vietnam war took place during the midst of the Cold War from 1954 to 1975. The United States didn't join the war until eleven years after the start of the war in 1965. This war was fought in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and South East A...

Should I Have the Right to Renovate my Own Building Without a Permit?

This is an action project or my core class A Nation's Argument. This unit was all about the constitution and its amendments. This led to some interesting conversations about which amendments are important and which aren't as important. For example, the third amendment has been ruled as not important because when would a soldier actually come and sleep in your own house. Another argument was how are these amendments related to the problems in the world today? which problems work against the amendments? In unit 1 we visited 1770 and talked about the thesis that "all men are created equal." In unit 2, we visited 1850 and talked about the antithesis of "all men are created equal." For this action project, I was tasked with finding a rule in the city municipal code that I believe is unjust. I chose the rule of needing a permit to renovate the inside of the building you own.  "A building permit is required for now building construction, renovations, the inst...
