"Dangerous" Neighborhoods

This is an Action Project for my core class, Equality. In this class, we took a deep dive into equality and how it plays out on the world. We focused on what it means to be truly equal and if we need to change how society views equality. Something this class did was take a look at some of the more influential voices in history. For example, we read excerpts from different writers like John Locke, Simone de Beauvoir, and Betty Friedan. These readings let us see into the theories and perspectives of different inequalities. In Betty Friedan's reading, we heard the perspectives of housewives and their missing feeling of "fulfillment" within the household. Other than sex equality, we also focused on class and race. Overall, this class was very diverse in the way we talked about equality. Our assignment for the class was making Zines. Zines are mini infographics that tell an important story through text and images. We were visited by a Zine expert and someone who works at the University of Chicago to collect and sort Zines. We learned about what Zine is and also how to make one. For my Zine, I decided to focus on the assumptions of which areas in Chicago are dangerous. I focused on one area in particular and showed how it has changed yet also which areas are dangerous. I made a physical copy of the Zine and also a copy that is digital. Below are images of my physical copy along with a slideshow for the online version.

This Action project was a difficult, long, and very fun one. I really enjoyed reading the articles and discussing them in class along with making the Zine out of paper. It was a good project to keep you busy and also show how good Zines are at conveying an important message. Something that made me think about in this assignment was finding a problem that I think is important that I can also convey in a creative yet informative way. If I could change something, I would change some of the wording I used in my physical copy because I changed some paragraphs in the digital. Unfortunately I ran out of time so my digital/physical copies aren't the same but are still very close. Overall, I really enjoyed this project because of the amount of buildup and also the end result that I got from the Zine.

My Final Project...Is about my future.

This is the very last Action Project I will ever make. I have spent my last three years making a lot of action projects, and I am at the end of them. This last AP is for my core class Endurance. This class was all about learning how one might endure something and the physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental, strength it takes to endure something. So in order to finish my last class, I need to create a survival guide on how to become an electrician, my future career. This survival guide will show how I will reach my goals and also give a timeline for how quickly I want to reach them. This is important because I am able to look back on this and show how much I have changed, and it will also help me if I get into a bad spot in my life. Overall, this AP will also show you how I plan to reach my goal and become successful in the future. Overall this class was one to remember. I was able to create a project I am proud of. I also know that this is the last action project of my time as ...

Scientific POSTER!

This is my final action project for my Core class Frontiers, and also my second to last action project ever! This last action project was all about challenging and pushing the frontiers of space and oceanic exploration. For both of these projects, we formed a guiding research question in order to be able to complete and write a research paper regarding problems with space and ocean exploration. For space, I decided to research and analyze the Big Banf and other questions connected to it. I was able to figure out just how much the Big Bang has had an influence on the world and research today. I was also able to figure out how the theories that are given, could be wrong. In order to complete this class, I was tasked with turning one of my research papers into a science fair poster. These posters have bits of information that give context to the research paper but do not give too much information. Below is my research paper created online. I am pretty proud of this poster and overall woul...

What is the Big Bang?

What was the Big Bang and how can we prove it? These are questions that scientists have been trying to answer for decades. Where did our universe come from? When did it start? Is it still going? Is there any way for us to be able to track the big bang? The big bang was billions of years ago, but how can science prove that it actually happened? If scientists can prove this then how could this affect religious beliefs? These questions have been asked, yet still remain unanswered. When asking questions, getting the answer can bring a whole lot more questions. When it comes to the creation of the universe, there are just as many questions as there are theories as to how the universe was created. Just a few of them have been stated above, and only a couple have been answered below.  But how did it begin? The universe as we know it started in one extremely hot and dense point that inflated and stretched, first at unmeasurable speeds, then slowly over time, it became measurable. 13....
