My Time as a Music Leader

This is a reflection of my time spent over the past 4 years working as a music leader at Covenant Presbyterian Church. This was an activity I did every Sunday night from 5pm - 8pm. Although, most of the time spent was me engaging in activities with the youth program. This was something that I have enjoyed the most because I was able to provide for a community while using something I am passionate about. I played guitar during this time and it also helped me enhance my own guitar playing skills. I met and made new friends and was able to make connections through the community. Overall this was a very memorable opportunity and I am glad to have had this experience. Below is a photo of me playing in front of the other students and youth I played for.

A Letter To the Government

This is an Action Project for my core class Policy. During this term, we have been looking at policy and how and what it is. We looked at it in the constitution and also in the government today. We took a look at different policies in Chicago and how they would change the world in a good or bad way. We were also visited by a few FE guests who should us a deeper meaning behind policy and how it can help us in the end for this project. We were visited by Arne Duncan, Akio Katano, the CCHR, and Nick Anderson. Keeping in mind the things they taught us about, we were tasked with finding a policy in Chicago (preferably a new one), and then creating a letter addressed to someone who represents me and my city asking them to advocate for this policy. The policy I chose was about the Anjanette Young Ordinance. This led me to research more into this policy and why what the police did was so wrong. Not just because they broke into an innocent civilian's home, but because they did so against t...

The Taming of Lucentio

Welcome to my blog. This term, our class is called Drama. In this term, we are going to learn about plays and acting. This unit, we have been reading a play by Shakespeare, "The Taming Of The Strew." This was the first unit that we had to do over video using Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been interesting but we have found a way to make it work. For this Action Project, we were assigned with creating our own sonnet using iambic pentameter. Iambic pentameter is a type of rhythm in the sonnet that follows a "duh-dum" type of beat with ten syllables in each line. In this sonnet, we made it based around a character of our choice from The Taming Of The Shrew. We have also taken a video of ourselves reading this sonnet that we have created. The man that I am talking about in this sonnet, is named Lucentio. He is a man that won the heart of Bianca in Bianca. There were other suitors chasing Bianca but Lucentio won the chase. He is my favorite character in the pl...
